New Physician Registration - Obtaining Necessary Numbers:
1. CPS ID: Assigned by the College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSBC).
2. MSP Number: Must be applied for after receiving the CPS ID. This is necessary for billing MSP (Medical Services Plan).
3. Payee Number: Used for directing payment. (Note: It can differ from the MSP number depending on clinic structure and billing arrangements)
Billing as a Solo Practitioner versus Group Practice
Solo Practice: Physicians bill MSP directly and receive payments in their account.
Group Practice or Locum Tenens:
Payments are processed under the clinic’s payee number.
Physicians must complete an Assignment of Payment form to authorize payments under the clinic's payee number.
Assignment forms have a five-year validity and require periodic renewal.
Teleplan and Data Center Setup
Physicians must attach their MSP number to the clinic's data center number for billing compatibility.
An Application for Teleplan Services is required to ensure proper setup. Forms should be submitted with adequate lead time (2-3 weeks) to avoid interruptions in billing.
Arya is integrated with Dr. Bill in BC. Dr. Bill's Data Centre Number is T9151.

Note: Effective dates can be specified to align with transitions to new EMRs (Electronic Medical Records).
Business Cost Premium (BCP)
Eligible physicians can claim BCP on fees for certain services.
"For physicians who provide eligible services in a community-based office, in an eligible geographic location, and who are responsible for some or all of the lease, rental or ownership costs of that office, either directly or indirectly are eligible for the BCP." (Gov BC, 2024)
Requires a separate application but does not typically need renewal once approved.
